Jeremy Clarkson stated once that you could tell something was an American car because if you do something, it dongs. There are so many warning buzzers and chimes now that it is very easy for you to just tune them all out.

That’s always been my opinion of it.
I guess it is time to annoy Comcast again. I thought our speed had been slipping over the past couple of months, and it has. We’re paying for 40 service, both tests say I’m really getting about 17.
There has been a security fee added onto the cost of every ticket since 9/11.
Agreed. While I am sure like anywhere, there are people at the TSA who actually perform their job well, most screeners I have run across are obviously there just to collect a check. I wouldn’t go so far as to call them incompetent, but it is obvious they’re just following procedure and unless there is a glaring…
I was bummed about POI too. It has been one of the few recent shows I latched onto and would religiously watch every week. I think once they latched onto the Samaritan storyline as the main focus of the show is when they started going astray. That and CBS kept pushing it to odd times slots (even after very successful…
Common courtesy and common sense are completely lost on our society today. It doesn’t matter if that’s how a 22 year old lives their life today, if they want to come watch the movie, then they need to follow the RULES, instead of having them bent for them.
But it is a reason why revolvers are often carried as backup weapons. Semi-autos are mainly carried for their larger magazines and ease of reloading vs a revolver. I’ve seen some very highly practiced shooters reload a revolver in an ungodly short amount of time, but it isn’t something that your average gun owner will…
Don’t forget you can’t upgrade the RAM on the MacBook Pro either, so you’re sucked into the same iOS device planned obsolescence or either pay Apple twice(-ish) the going rate for RAM at the time of purchase.
Most of Miami is built on a swamp. From talking to folks who live/lived down there it has done that as long as they can remember.
That’s why I brought up the construction techniques of the era. Energy was dirt cheap so there was no reason for anyone to be concerned. I’m not going to say nobody had any concern for the impact on the environment during that time, but it certainly was not a priority.
You’re talking about a country that has the same population as metro Atlanta.
When my Dad was in the Army back in the ‘70s, that was standard for all recruits as part of basic. He said it was one of the worst things he’s ever had to do in his life.
That’s what he gets for driving a fake Jeep.
Probably not. Most places I worked we always used off the shelf cables unless we needed a custom length. It isn’t worth the hassle to make them on your own.
Red Storm Rising by Tom Clancy. I’ve wished someone would pick this one up ever since I read the book when I was 12-13 (37 now). It would be hellish to make it flow properly on film, but if it was done right (maybe a mini-series like Band of Brothers?) it would probably be one of the best “what if?” movies ever made…
Yup. I’ve had less than l lb model rockets bury their first 5-6” in the mud or soft ground after the parachute failed to deploy on a couple of occasions. So unless it maintained a horizontal orientation all the way down (doubtful), then it is probably buried.
Apples to oranges. HOAs are voluntary agreements, dealing with the government is not. If I don’t care for the HOA, I simply do not buy there, or move out. Relocating to a different country that has not become a quasi-socialistic, nanny, leftist-paradise is a bit harder, and for many, downright impossible.
I love that we have reached a point in the progression of our country that anyone who calls for fiscal restraint in government is automatically labeled as stupid.
