My folks thought they were going to have to go to dial up, or perhaps satellite if they wanted something faster, at their current home. They're only 10 miles from a decent sized town in eastern TN, but it is rural enough that a phone call to the next county over (less than 2-3 miles) is long distance. Fortunately the

Meters for the lights in the lot are usually on one of the poles, or on a small stand nearby one of the transformers. Also, if the power company installed the lights, then the property owner may just get a flat bill for the lights, hence no meter.

I worked with a couple of banks in my days in IT. One was still using NT until 2004-05 because of their software that nobody wanted to update to run on XP until it became impractical to support NT any longer.

OK...It happens all the time. I've landed a 172 and PA-28 (Piper Cherokee) at Atlanta on a few occasions. Usually did it late at night to avoid any disruptions, but I did go into Atlanta once during the afternoon rush in said Cherokee, and taxiing out behind a bunch of much larger airliners was certainly an experience

I was seriously considering going with a MacBook Pro to replace my current Windows based laptop until I read that they couldn't be upgraded. Bad part about it is there's no technical reason why they did this (I've seen internal pictures, and the memory could be easily accessed, but they just had the chips soldered to

For those who care, just keep in mind many Craftsman hand tools are now of Asian (usually Chinese) origin. Screwdrivers and pliers are usually OK, but tool sets like those mentioned are usually 100% China.

In short, weight and space. SAM sites, and naval radar does in fact include two separate systems, but in a space cramped airplane, there just isn't the room. That's one of the big reasons why interceptor aircraft usually carry large active radar homing missiles, it allows them to more quickly engage multiple aircraft.

I think the point that is being missed is it has a very high mortality rate, particularly amongst children and the elderly. There's really no treatment for it outside of keeping someone hydrated and dealing with the blood loss and any possible secondary infections. As a parent of a young child, I can't even begin to

I've occasionally seen it in the past few months.

Any of the shows I follow, very rarely anymore. I have much more important things to do than to be dictated when I have to watch something for my own personal entertainment. If I'm watching "live" TV it is either a sports event or I was channel surfing.

Dash Command is way too expensive for what it does, and unless you like fooling with their not-at-all intuitive dashboard creation tool, lacks a lot of flexibility. I have an old Android device specifically to use Torque, even though I'm otherwise an iOS user.

No, but you need to put it in the proper context. Saying "many places" is extremely vague.

It has honest to goodness optical stabilization, a protruding lens is a small price to pay for something that actually overcomes one of the biggest drawbacks of trying to take pictures with a phone in anything but good light.

Adapters are a pain to keep up with. Plus it is another thing hanging out of the phone that can get snagged on something or won't work well with certain types of cases.

Can we get REAL, functional gauges again? Ones that have numbers and actually fluctuate when the engine/transmission temperature changes?

I remember not getting 911 in my area (a suburb of Atlanta, no less) until the late 80s. Until then, we had a sticker on our phones that had the number to the local EMS dispatcher.

Yep! He was getting lessons for his commercial rating in his Cessna 206 at the same place I was renting airplanes from just outside of Atlanta. The flying club had a yearly Thanksgiving dinner and Alton fried the turkeys for the meal. In his typical style, he had a very creative way of getting the turkeys in and out

You would actually be surprised at the number of celebrities and other notable people who actually pilot their own aircraft.

I like clean air and water.

I had the rent-a-cop security at Hoover Dam try to claim that my former Kershaw Leek was a switchblade because of the assisted opening. He didn't open it, nor was I asked to, I guess he saw the thumb stud and probably whatever half-ass training he received from DHS classified such a knife as a switchblade, even after
