Well Voltorb and Electrode are sentient Pokeballs, so if Pokeballs are machines then so are they. As for Magni, unless there are mechanical/circuitry parts in the centre sphere, magnets themselves aren't enough to qualify it as a Robot.

I think Pokemon is as much for kids as Doctor Who is, at one point yes it was just for them, but since then the original fans have grown up. To dismiss it as just for kids is childish :)
