I’ll be surprised if they had never tested it, knowing the depth of their program and how much public data they’ve released about it.

That said, Waymo has released a lot of public data to give confidence that their system did perform well in these situations. We can look at that data and come to our own conclusions.

I’m not convinced a human, paying attention, would have hit the pedestrian. The video doesn’t seem representative of human night vision.

From the data Waymo have released in the past, showing pedestrians and cyclists acting erratically and the car taking appropriate caution, I have little doubt either that it would succeed so long as the sensors picked up the pedestrian (which they should).

Which is exactly why we need this technology, so those who can’t/won’t drive safely can be mobile, regardless of whether they love in an urban area or not.

Is it any different from cheering for particular drivers because of the country they come from?

It’s very interesting seeing the many uncommon cases Google specifically has to handle. It’s definitely complex, but does get tackled.

That’s because while Wayne has lived in the states for decades, he’s South African.

Flip it around, they also can’t take the risk the privateers leave because if OEMs, and then the OEMs leave and there’s no class anymore.

And yet, that doesn’t kill anybody.

Looking at the way Google handles this, they actually seem to account for it pretty well by being conservative. They err on the side of waiting at a stop sign for cyclists, moving well over for pedestrians on the edge of the sidewalk, and generally assuming most other drivers may need to be avoided.

I agree this should be treated rationally, but there’s lots to unpack here. AFAIK, Uber doesn’t have the same record of care and caution that Google does. Quite the opposite.

“There is simply no way IMSA would (or should) allow the lowest price entry into the sport compete heads up with the sponsors with the greatest investment.”

Watch the last half of last season, they had that balance right. The factory teams will still have an advantage in preparation and talent, they don’t need an outright pace advantage as well.

DPi wasn’t designed for a different class, the intention from day 1 was for them to have the same performance as P2 cars.

Fortunately, both IMSA and WEC have full transparency of T&S and BoP parameters. Unfortunately, it’s hard to say with certainty where things go wrong, it’s a complex problem.

Yes, it is.

Strongly disagree.

This should convince most people that he is a sociopath. It does demonstrate why he’s a good con man, he’s charming.

Last time Tucker went to prison (he’s a repeat offender), it was Leavenworth.
