They were disqualified for the hole, and again for violating parc ferme.

Different class, no reason to think it was intentional. Especially since none of us knew that it would provoke clutch problems later.

With the pit wall stand on the other side of the lane, it’s allowed to cross pit lane safely. It does appear to be an issue of making a hand gesture in the location where there’s usually a marshal giving hand gestures. Particularly since it’s a safety issue if he leaves pit lane early under safety car.

I disagree. The original spirit of the race, starting with the very first one, was to test the reliability of the cars running over 24 hours. That’s where the 70% rule and the need to shut off and refire the car “alone and unaided” at every pit stop comes from.

No, the rule is there to prevent gaining any advantage, whether aerodynamic or serviceability. They gained a serviceability by modifying bodywork that wasn’t allowed to be modified, with a hole that’s wouldn’t have been allowed anyway, then touching the car in parc ferme to try and cover it up.

I’m confused, you want fewer regulations but don’t like balancing diesel and petrol?

No, like whoever you want to like!

What rules do you think are too restrictive?

Did you just steal my Reddit joke? ;)

The guys who filmed it spent a huge amount of time finding someone to publish it. If it got picked up again, we’d likely be waiting until the 2018 race for filming...

Well, that’s mostly because both Toyota and Porsche decided to paint their cars white, black, and red. Back when the Toyotas (and before that Peugeots) were blue it at least helped.

That’s why you swap batteries instead.

To put just how insane this lap is into perspective:

It is the same engine and electronics package, but that package has had massive reliability issues so far this year. It was rushed in development, and nobody has the option to use anything else. It’s not a bulletproof unit, and the lack of competition means everyone’s succeptible instead of a handful of cars having

Bonkers fast cars, unreliability that can hit anyone at any time, and a stacked field including Bruno Senna and Nico Prost (in a single car!), Jean-Eric Vergne, Rubens Barrichelo, Nelson Piquet Jr, and Jan Lammers.

The team and program were dismantled when the replacement hybrid system for the failed ToroTrak system didn’t meet performance targets.

Right, which is why “less script” isn’t the solution. It’s better, more natural scripts.

Tire noise is huge to hear the drivers working more than just their right foot.

I absolutely agree, the question is just what Fernando decides to do.
