Do it. Buy this thing. Line it up to the next mom and daughter drag race you do. Be a badass.
Just as an FYI, the fire extinguisher is there because it is mendatory in Belgium, where the car was originally sold. All cars must have one here. They don’t in France though.
1. Well that's a shame, I was reffering to a real-life event were, if I recall this correctly, an Iraqi SCUD hit a group of abrams which were stationned for maintenance. As the tanks were not movable. The personnel fled from the SCUD and a bunch of Abrams were lost or "shipped back to the US for repairs" as they like…
Ok, half of your concern seem misguided.
A very interesting read, thank you for taking the time to answer me in such details.
Well as I said in a reply before my view on fuel with the abrams is not a matter of "we can afford it", it's more a matter of "how can we make this better". A diesel engine with similar performance would cost less to build, cost less to maintain, be less of a weight for the logistics, be less of a drag to maintain,…
I'm not well versed into battleships but I agree we'll have to wait and see, I'm not just one to rule out MBT's just yet.
Agreed, MBT's and urban combat don't mix too well.
I would agree with your point about lighter vehicles, but it's hard for me to say that the era of the MBT is over, I'm more a "right tool for the right job" kinda guy. (also, quite off-topic, but there are some MBT's who can carry infantry, the Israeli Merkava and the Ukrainian BMT-72 are such exemples)
That's a good point, though if we're going to have a vehicle ONLY for counter-insurgency and urban combat, why noy have a smaller, more cost effective vehicle built for that matter ?
Well several reports from the 90's indicate that burnt down M1's were taken care of by RADCON teams wearing NBC suits to clean of the surronding and put the tank in a sealed container in order to ship them back to the US for them to be buried as nuclear waste.
Thanks ! I really appreciate your posts on Foxtrot Alpha and knowing my simple, badly written reply has been approved by you has made my day.
Okay, I may receive some hate about this, but I'm amazed how little they seem to care about the true weaknesses of the Abrams while developing ultra expensive upgrades for it.
Jeez, that's some distasteful stuff.
I had a good smile when seeing the MR2 on this list as, coming from a french speaking country MR2 sounds a lot like "Eh merde !" which can be translated to "Oh shit !"
Because, at the time, the superbike trophy was far more important, it was still 500cc where most sports bike of the time were over 900cc ...
Not a bad list but a lot of very obscure stuff where ohter very important bikes could have been picked. No mention of the XT500, arguably defining what a modern enduro bike is. No mention of the Norton Manx, THE bike for the TT, ...
