The plot of 3 wasn't terrible. It was literally a combination of the first two games. I think that was Bethesda's way of getting the new players up to date.

I bought Earthbound when it came out for the SNES, because of a little thing Nintendo Power ran on Earthbound Zero (Mother 1) for the NES. I thought the game looked great then, and kept my eye out it. Obviously it never came out.
