A friend of mine fell on some ice and broke his collarbone. When he had surgery to correct it, he left the hospital as soon as the anesthesia wore off, not even staying one night, because he didn’t have insurance. He’s still going to be paying for the surgery for the rest of his life.

Or, to put it in more general terms, once is an incident; twice is a coincidence; and three times is a pattern.

You know, two years ago if I heard that story, I would have said, “how the hell did someone with such obviously terrible judgement get elected to public office?” Nowdays I don’t even need to ask.

In times such as these, I tend to watch a lot of comedies, especially comedy series that I know well. The IT Crowd is a pretty frequent rotation for me. Ditto Archer, NewsRadio, Parks and Rec, 30 Rock and Community. The Simpsons is also a good choice, especially since there’s tons of it.

Looking at those two pictures, it’s still mind-boggling how much Obama aged over the eight years he was in office. Those pics look decades apart.

Because the ones we lost in 2016 were people we actually miss.
