Yup, which is why that in a lot of these types of discussion, I find that Black women are among the most understanding and supportive of allies. We both know what it's like when our race works against our value as desirable partners.

I agree. I grew up in a city with a burgeoning Indian immigrant population, so they faced a lot of prejudice and racism. Indian girls were usually an afterthought when it came to whom most people considered to be "hot girls," and I always thought that the stereotypes against them were unfair.

I think that all minority men can empathize with each other's situations. Some people act as if Black guys have it good because of the stereotypes of the hypermasculine Black man, but that often just means that people think Black guys are criminals.

But even Hapas, like Maggie Q, are generally just considered "Asian" by most non-Asians.

This is a pretty crude method, but if you search "Asian porn" vs. "Indian porn," one's gonna be a LOT more common than the other, at least in America.

Certainly, there's a Madonna-Whore Complex imposed on Asian women as well. Some are seen as idealized pure and pre-feminist paragons of virtue, while others are seen as prostitutes/bar hostess types.

Many of my friends in high school were Filipino, and they went through similar things as East Asians. If anything, they had it tougher because they didn't have the reputation of being wealthy. It was almost as if they got the worst of being Asian and being Black.

East and Southeast Asian men are stereotyped relatively similarly, especially since there are lots of ethnically East Asians living in Southeast Asia. I don't think Thai, Filipino, and Vietnamese men are treated that differently from Korean or Japanese or Chinese men, especially since a lot of White people can't tell…

It's a fine balance. It's a fact that White women are held as the most attractive in our society, and as a consequence, minority men are often barred from opportunities to date/marry them. In contrast, White men are presumed to have easy access to any minority women they want.
