Is there any current EV motor that can make a sustained 576hp right now? Maybe a Plaid or Lucid costing 3 times as much, but even then don’t those have more than 2 motors?

Yeah I’d like to know how it was explained. Other journalists are stopping short of saying what amount of power actually makes it to the rear wheels when in drift mode.
I suppose, but KIA themselves rate the motor for a certain output right? If it is able to provide more I’d expect the motor rating to reflect that, and you bet that KIA would use that in their marketing (then using a reduced combined output rating when in AWD mode).
Doesnt a production class record require a vehicle be of a production model, and not a prototype? Is there allowances for prototypes to run as such, even if changes are made to the upcoming production version?

I’ve never really cared for exposed exhaust tips, especially ones that need constant cleaning. Hidden exhausts are where it’s at and when the e38 7-series came out, it really illustrated that automotive design didnt have to have them to look good.
Aren’t wheels in Motorsport considered consumables? I’d imagine that unless they go out of their way to NDI them after a few races, they’ll simply discard them from their usable selection and get replacements.
I’m not privy to the effectiveness at very short distances, but do know these systems need time to detect a missile plume, rotate the laser head and acquire it in order to try and misdirect it or confuse the missiles sensors. From my testing it was maybe half a second from a good detection to the laser rotating and…
Yup, even military aircraft (at least the ones I touched with DIRCM and LAIRCM systems) had WOW switches, along with other safety protections. Took some number of steps to perform ground testing.
Well it’s shorter than any version of an F-150.
Okay I think I’m sold.
Did anyone else look up factory tire sizes and wonder how a Carnival might look on 17’s wrapped by Falken Wildpeak A/T3Ws?
For the everyday definitely, but I was thinking more akin to a bolt action rifle versus something semi automatic. Just has a nostalgic feel to it if you make it special enough.
My guess is the launch window for this type of mission is relatively small, else they wait a significant amount of time for another similar opportunity.
*Edit - disregard, I was looking at the wrong spot that i think you were referring to. I see it now, though still a bit confused how in the video they are demonstrating all the infotainment stuff without a key in the ignition slot.
Kinda have to agree. Unless it does something more special (a la Bugatti top speed key, or Mustang Boss 302 track key), or is part of the theater and placed in a unique spot (Aston Martin “Emotional Control Unit”) than yeah I’d rather have keyless-go capabilities.
I tried to look around, but could not for the life of me find anything showing the ignition. On the contrary in fact, found a picture of a keyless type fob and a video which doesnt show anything on the column with a similar keyless fob resting on the console.
Any actual pictures of the key or the where the ignition is on the dash/column? Does the key go into the center console like an older Saab? That would be the best.
So I take it they were assessed to be okay until a recovery can be performed by land? I kinda assumed a helicopter or similar may have wanted to pick them up to ensure their safety until the rig could be unmuddified.
What happens if you take your seatbelt off while still moving? I often take mine off as I’m entering my driveway on a cul-de-sac but still moving at like 5mph. I sometimes back in as well so would it shift into park and wait for me to re-buckle when I initially pull forward before trying to engage reverse? How will…
