I used to get bent out of shape that BMW - despite being competitive with Porsche on the race track - would never quite make an M3 that was a real rival to the 911 GT3.

Yeah, that FEM bit IS true. The car does have a couple of spots that need reinforcement either for track duty or to stave off old age, though I wouldn’t have called it “fragile.”

An E36 M3 would wipe the floor with everything but a C5 Vette or a 911 from that era. And the 911 won’t be under $10k.

E36 M3s are cheaper than an E30 325. This is kind of a no-brainer to me.
