What if you need a positive test to get out of work or otherwise stay home? What if it would be difficult to isolate unless your family was convinced or you needed to take advantage of programs to isolate out of your home? Additionally, people at risk of complications want to get tested ASAP because interventions like

Whenever I’ve been met with the ‘do your own research’ reply, I say “no, you’ve made your thesis statement, now prove it to me, CITE YOUR WORK”.  Almost always get back blank stares at that.

Yes! The You’re Wrong About podcast has talked about this a lot, and it’s just so infuriating to think about how little people do to interrogate or debunk this trope because no one wants to seem like they are anti- anti-trafficking. But that glossing over is actually so dangerous, because the casual acceptance and

Ehh, the anti-vaxx horror show is where the nuts on the left & right come together fo celebrate their joint stupidity!

A former friend of mine from high school has turned into a raging Qanon/social media mommy influencer, peddling anti-vaxx and covid-denial conspiracy theories along with the usual human trafficking stuff. I called her out one time over the summer, asking for evidence, and got the boilerplate “do your own research”

We’ve been doing fine so far. The teachers usually start the zoom early and chat with the kids. The work on Seesaw includes video or audio explanations since they can’t read yet. And we have one or two playdates a week in Zoom so the kids get to know their classmates better, as well as a schoolwide dance party/Fit

That’s the reason that conventions have typically not canceled until what seems to be the last minute. The way most contracts for convention space are written, if the convention organizers cancel on their own, they’re still liable for payment to the space provider. However, the force majeure exclusion states that, if

That’s what the con may be banking on, actually.  Have the governor (or mayor of LA) say oh hell no rather than pulling the plug.  Probably due to contracts, insurance, etc.

Bullshit. There is no way in hell that the California would allow an indoor gathering of that size in three months anywhere in the state let alone alone in the county with the highest number of positive cases and deaths.

See I’d say do it, but i live around this shit hole and don’t want one of these idiots spreading it anywhere near me...

Are you sure they ranked them? I was an OTF member for 3 years and people are up on the screen in alphabetical order by first name. You can see your heart rate and “splat points” from being in a certain heart rate zone, and you can see others’ as well. But they didn’t rank anyone.

The US is different. We reject the heavy government regulation that many other countries have, and then we complain about the lawsuits that fill the gap.

Whose propaganda are you ignoring? Not OTF’s apparently. I hope you don’t catch anything from the exhaled droplets of all those breathing heavily around you, because that’s where the real risk is (not touching surfaces).

I’m an Orange Theory member, but haven’t been back since COVID-19 started. That email really pissed me off. What I found most insulting was how dismissive he was of risk associated with going into a small space, with a lot of people, breathing heavily on each other, and touching many of the same surfaces. Despite

As a physician, I’ll probably never set foot in a gym again. And fuck this dude.

“There’s no evidence to support the fact that gyms are contributing to the community spread of COVID-19 above any other types of businesses.”

Thanks for the reminder that I need to take my membership off hold and just cancel! I had just gotten into a groove at OTF this winter before the shutdowns and was seeing the first noticeable progress in my own fitness in years, but none of that is worth the cost of catching/spreading the virus. I am sure the

Second, exercise is not a balm to be put over mental health as if it is the be all end all.”

Yeah, man, my fit, healthy 35 year old brother with no pre-existing conditions who climbed mountains and ran regularly before this just needed to be less “inactive”...that must be why 4 months after having COVID he’s suffering from myocarditis and has only JUST been able to complete a two mile walk with no negative

Everything I’ve read suggests the real danger of gyms is less the “touching communal surfaces” than it is the enclosed space with a bunch of people breathing harder than normal and the spray of microscopic sweat droplets.
