Our train ran right through the center of town. I lived on one side and my high school was on the other side, so you always had to leave some extra time just in case you got stuck at a crossing. There was also a steel mill in the neighboring town and often the train would drop off there so you’d get stopped and sit

yes, all of this. I also have two little ones and I am the one doing most of the heavy lifting, including both drop off and pickup. We only budget for housecleaning once a month but I tidy every weekend and constantly feel behind. Thank goodness I actually enjoy doing laundry.

Totally! We also like Kookookangaroo

And "if you have to go potty, stop and go right away" 😀

But the other problem with ‘common core’ math is the way it’s actually taught in schools. Number sense and multiple ways to solve a problem are great until you are forced to show that you know how to use every method every time. Then it’s just a bunch of busy work and the students start hating math all over again.

I think I’m the exact right age (40) to have actually taken typing classes (6th grade enrichment) but also played typing “games” in computer lab. I learned first on a typewriter, then a “word processor”, and finally on computers. I also became the family typist and was coerced to fill out forms for everyone on my

My mom told me about those in the 60s. she was a teacher’s aide and had to work with one. We had a giant humming typewriter that my little fingers could barely press but she used it to write her thesis for two separate graduate degrees.

Mine are 22 months apart and I often get asked “are they twins?” I know my daughter is petite but she’s got 3 inches on her little brother and if you watched them walk or talk you’d immediately know. 4.5 is pretty different from 2.5. I’m guessing I’ll get it more and more as they get older and he gains on her.

I co-habitate but we don’t share a bathroom. He gets the on-suite and I use the one in the hallway which I share with the kids. Works out great except his bathroom gets pretty nasty when we aren’t hiring a housecleaner.

As someone who also had quite the crush on a early to mid-90s Matthew Perry (truthfully I even felt it when he was on Growing Pains and trying to take advantage of Tony Danza’s daughter in “She’s Out of Control”), I feel her pain. I know there’s a huge age gap, but if she was watching Friends reruns it probably felt

Came to write this comment, but you did it much better. Not that we’re making $193K yet but it’s not that far off and we won’t be able to backdoor because my husband has rollover IRAs from his 401Ks at previous employers.

Shopping with two kids is bad enough. I think my 2 year old only wants bananas because he likes stomping on them in the back of the cart. I wish every Walmart had grocery pickup service but for now I just drive ten minutes out of my way on the way home to get my groceries at the one store that has it near my commute.

I also see it very commonly in my so cal neighborhood, it appears to be cultural. I have been guilty of using a light muslin blanket on occasion.

Also good to know...there’s a generic version that is much cheaper.

For some reason the prices always seem to be higher on their website. The only time I’ve ordered Costco online is through Google Express when I had a coupon code.

I miss Cheap Seats so much. My favorite was the Stanford Cal game where the Cal players ran through the band. I just left it on my TiVo till it died. But the celebrity fishing one was great too.

I had to bring the yellow vaccination card to register for kindergarten last month in Long Beach, as well as her birth certificate and two utility bills to prove our address. She got all her boosters at her four year appointment but I wasn’t expecting it till her fifth birthday so I had to make a special trip to get

I love Orlando. I don’t know how long I have followed his blog. Glad I found him through Emily’s short lived show. Do they even do design star anymore?

I prefer to eat like a hobbit. Well, I eat second breakfast at least. First breakfast is right after I get home from the gym or when I get up on rest days and it’s protein heavy. Then I have a packet of oatmeal with my second cup of coffee when I get to the office about three hours after first breakfast. usually, that
