Class of ‘96 represent!
And I brought my own pillow. I hate hospital pillows. I also brought my nursing pillow, so much better than anything they had.
All great advice! I also recommend buying up a size or two in tanks/bras for the first few weeks. When I was engorged, I barely owned anything that could cover my ginormous boobs.
oh my god, the night sweats! I felt like I was the only person that had ever dealt with it like that. I had the most awful alternating chills and sweats the first couple weeks, but only after baby #2. After baby #1 I had some strange swelling in my hands and could barely move my fingers each morning for the first six…
Yes and yes. I highly recommend the Always version of “adult” diapers to help you get through the post-birth bleeding. Mine was about 6 weeks. The tucks pads are great too. I also recommend a sitz bath and stool softeners. That first bowel movement was almost as bad as childbirth. And I only had a second degree tear,…
you need all the stars. I actually had to read it twice.
I regret not being able to breastfeed for longer, so more power to you. My daughter was weaned at 15 months because I was pregnant and it was painful, plus my doctor recommended it. Then my son self weaned by a year. By eight months, he would only nurse when he was tired and it just got harder and harder to get him to…
I’ve used it occasionally for the last year and it’s worked fine. Everyone I’ve picked up has been at most 5 minutes out of my way and we get to use the carpool lane for most of the drive. If I wasn’t available, they would use uber or the like but waze is much cheaper. I even started driving a couple women outside the…
My husband’s cooking some today in fact, to take along on a big family camping trip. I swear, sometimes he makes bacon just for the grease.
darn, I got excited until I realized it was only for “backup” care. Seriously, we’re keeping the kids in daycare while my husband looks for work after being laid off but it’s tough on one salary and our childcare expenses are relatively cheap. If Starbucks helped out 365 days a year, I’d make him start applying there…
When I was making some extra cash with postmates, I unfortunately ended up delivering to a high school at lunch. You can’t tell where the drop off location is until after you’ve picked up the food, so I couldn’t turn it down. The students weren’t allowed off campus so I had to give it to a girl through a gated fence an…
I know it’s a step beyond, but for our new online credit union accounts we also set up phone passwords with four random words. When our identity was stolen thanks to a breach at our mortgage provider, the thieves would call our financial institutions pretending to be us to change passwords because they had just enough…
True story. I have filled a sippy cup with beer. I was at the zoo, they were selling beer, it was hot out, and I had two toddlers by myself. But I couldn’t push the double stroller and hold an open container, so the beer went in a “Jake and the Neverland Pirates” sippy cup. In the end, everyone was happy.
There have to be some ex-pats around, maybe there’s a bar that shows American sports where you can find them? I visited a college friend while she was living in Auckland and we made a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for them. It was awesome, they all loved it, and we even made them watch American college football on a…
yep, or kids that are just doing it for pocket money. We got robbed (they boosted someone in through the tiny shower window) and they took our laptops, PS3, and Wii. They didn’t even hunt for jewelry; my nightstand was untouched.
I have a toddler and a preschooler and they are always snitty when they get home from daycare. Feeding them is DEFINITELY the right answer but navigating that is difficult. If we let them snack too much, then they won’t eat their dinner. But they get super hangry otherwise, so we definitely have to walk the line there.
Are the prices still higher than in-store? Also, by the end of the month you won’t be able to use the Savings Catcher with these purchases, only those that are done in store with the Walmart Pay App. So anybody with cash or EBT is now screwed out of using the Savings Catcher. Way to discrimate against the poor,…

they probably aren’t allowed to accept tips. I went shopping with my newborn and toddler at a Vons and for the first time ever I let the bag boy bring my groceries to my car. I tried to tip him and he said he had to refuse the money. (I think Vons was still owned by Safeway at the time but now they are owned by…

I didn’t do anything unique this month but I’ve been steadily progressing for the last year or so. I started with couch to 5k with a jogging stroller when the baby was waking at 5am. Then I was only doing a run/walk on weekends and losing my focus despite running in my first 5k earlier this year. But in May I joined…
I loved her on Channel One! It’s so strange to think I watched her and Anderson Cooper 25 years ago.
