In California you can request to be a permanent absentee voter so my ballot always comes to my house. You either mail it by election day or drop it off at a polling station or special ballot drop off location. And the last two elections, they sent the sticker out with the ballot so I’m wearing it with pride today

Our polling place has curbside voting for the disabled. There’s a sign on the street with a number to call. I don’t know if they’d count morning sickness as a disability though.

I actually feltguilty when I would get extra steps while nursing and rocking the baby in the glider. But I also missed out on steps from pushing the stroller so I guess it probably evened out.

I’m not about the fashion but I just had baby #2 on the same day as AJ Green’s wife. As a huge Bengals fan I was super excited.

Every pregnancy will hurt until you get knocked up and it sucks. Including surgery and hormone treatment it took me 2.5 years fyi get pregnant with my first. And two months with number two, so you just never know. Good luck.

I’m so glad we moved away when I was 6.

I loved rooming in, it allows you to feed on demand and bond with the baby.

I need to learn the secret to getting a barrette to stay in toddler hair. My little girl rips everything out, so we can’t even do ponytails. She’s lucky she’s cute because it drives me crazy. I tried to put headbands on her as a baby but my husband always took them back off, so maybe it’s really his fault.

I was paying $9,100/year for full time infant (under age 2) care at an in home day care, which was exceedingly cheap for the los angeles area. But they closed right as I was going on leave for baby #2. I freaked out for a few weeks but found another place that could take both kids, but not till February. And it costs

This is exactly what I need. I try to take a short walk every two hours and I was timing it to occur at the end of an hour to roll into the next hour and make sure I got at least 250 steps in each. But if I got distracted with work I often missed my window.

I was awake very early this morning thanks to contractions I couldn’t slrep through and the first Bridget Jones was on. He’s so despicable and yet so freakin’ hot. (Wesley Adrian arrived this evening.)

I liked this movie, but I love love love Wonder Boys.

I’ve been to several usc games where they ran out of water/soda when it was an exceptionally hot day, you’d think they’d get better at planning by now. But I’ve never had trouble with concession lines. And usc lets you enter any gate so I can see that there would be confusion if they changed the entrance method.

California’s plan has worked well for us. I get up to four weeks of paid leave before the birth and std weeks after (8 for a c-section). That immediately rolls into paid family leave which is another six weeks of bonding time that you can take over the course of a year or all in a row. Fathers are also eligible for

Childcare is already tax deductible, doesn’t he know that? Maybe he should mandate that all employers offer the dependent care FSA. It’s really helped us. But we’re also fortunate enough to live in California that also has state disability insurance/pregnancy disability leave. And paid family leave for all parents,

Yeah, that’s why I donate diapers, feminine hygiene products, and laundry detergent to a domestic abuse shelter. None of them can be purchased with WIC or SNAP.

I remember “local” long distance actually being more expensive than interstate long distance too. I grew up in a big rural school district north of Cincinnati and it was local long distance to call people that lived in the district but in a different local area. We also didn’t have a local dial-up number for AOL so it

I kinda liked Undercover Blues. I mostly remember Dennis Quaid beating somebody up with his umbrella stroller one handed while holding the baby. And Stanley Tucci was in it before anyone knew who he was.

You sound just like my mom. She loves covers of his songs, but she can’t stand his voice. I think he’s bearable some of the time.

I wonder if my mother had ever regretted my name. 99.9% of people pronounce it differently than she does and it became fairly common a few years after I was born. It’s a masculine name with a feminine spelling so I’ve spent my life correcting people and spelling it slowly. But she doesn’t really feel the day to day
