Apart from the massive ecosystem damage that would do, keep in mind that if we go around dramatically changing weather patterns (that Desert has its uses for climate regulation), the consequences may well be a whole lot worse than the good the changes will do.

Usually you need someone to “break” the unwritten rules before someone writes them down, so I hope so for the USA’s sake. They did the same with presidential term-limits after World War 2 after all. But you didn’t have the kind of Republicans in office back then that you do now.
