I’ve owned two *salvage title* cars that had clean CarFaxes. A CarFax is about worth the paper it is printed on.

Never EVER go to a dealership star-struck. Also, dream cars are really just not all that great if you have to work 2 jobs to save up for a rapidly depreciating commodity that’s being sold way above its value. It will break and stop feeling new, and you will not like it. If they think I’m going to buy something and…
PPI prevents all this. If the dealer refuses to let you have one done, huge red flag and move on.
Dammit, where’s your outrage! Get out of here with your “fairness” and common sense.
For an older Subaru with a new motor I’m guessing he only had liability insurance and thus no claim to be had. I feel for him.
I don’t understand this. If that had been my car, my socially inept self would not be able to setup a go-fund-me account and get actual money out of it.
I have comments that are 2 years old that never got out of the grays.
Happy new years to all my perma-grey brethren. Here’s to another 365 days of being ignored by this site.
I was this years old....
Question for all car collectors: how do you afford the insurance?
Every one of them was rode hard and put away wet.
I think tow truck drivers only use these as a last-ditch resort. They’d rather drag the vehicle up the bed, tires squeaking, if they can. Since it’s such a short distance, it probably doesn’t really damage the tires.
In states where the first wrecker on the scene gets the tow, you end up with tow truck drivers speeding and driving recklessly to get the job. The flip side is a lottery or rotation. Safer, but then there’s no incentive to get there in a timely manner.
Several recent BMW products require you to jack up the vehicle(F10 chassis for example), remove under paneling and turn a bolt on the side of the transmission to engage neutral override for towing. Even for ICE cars, its not always easy...
Where do you live that you can get anything in the world brought to you in the middle of the night through a huge traffic jam in less than 45 minutes?
And in today’s submission of ‘Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes...’
Looks like the dealer is also in the business of flipping in his body shop.
Nitpicking the semantics of machine gun vs automatic pistol shows you have no real point.
Lol the main thing is don’t check “Yes” to items like “Do you suffer / Have you suffered from mental illness?” on your background check form.
Indi mechanic/airbag tech at a indi body shop here. I had to chime in really quick concerning the carfax/airbag comment. Airbag deployment/replacement requires a dealership trip for programming on probably less than 10% of the cars we work on. I use an all makes scanner/j2534 programmer, and often times factory SRS…
