And low-rise jeans are comfortable for people with stomach and other abdominal issues. Granted, I am speaking as an old person (crazy to consider comfort), but I have friends with endometriosis and fibroids and IBD who are cursing the high-waist trend because it means they can’t buy jeans.

No no no wait, some of us need high waisted jeans! I have endometriosis and I’ve had a couple surgeries that left me with more pain than I started with. Low or mid rise jeans cut across my stomach and it’s too painful. High rise mom jeans are great. They also hold everything in, too much jiggling is also painful.

High waists are flattering to a certain part of the population (ahem) that likes the built-in tummy flattening.

I personally find arguments over authenticity to generally be the province of miserable people, and derive endless amusement from watching them lose their shit (which makes Italians Mad at Food an excellent Twitter/IG follow - and I say that as someone with Italian lineage).
