According to the wiki page (take with a grain of salt) Crisco has always been a vegetable shortening. Shortening itself is generic term for any fat that is solid at room temperature. And lard was the fat used prior to the invention of shelf stable vegetable shortening.

I don’t know if they’ve changed the recipe for their buttercream, but it wasn’t lard when I was working there, it was a buttercream base (vegetable shortening)+ butter + something else I can’t remember, but no lard.

That video was terrible.  She seriously thought no one would notice that the pink sugar didn’t match.  I don’t know about you, but I can definitely taste the difference between Pillsbury frosting and grocery store buttercream.  She could have salvaged it a little better if she had at least put the top layer of cake in.
