Right. There are real world environmental impacts (just like they’re on for crypto) but I have no sympathy for the investbros who are losing money on this. Something about the past two years has really sapped my sympathy for people who think they know everything.

Fair enough, if I had an NFT booster messing with my shit, I’m sure I’d feel the same way.

The vast majority of us will never have that interaction, and NFTs sort of feel akin to microtransactions in they’re a shitty gimmick that most people don’t ever have to interact with if they don’t want to. But yeah, fuck that

I get it, but NFTs are equally as environmentally costly as cryptocurrency, and yet the conversation is ALWAYS about NFTs being damaging. All cryptocurrency harms the planet. It’s ALL bad.

And see, I agree that we should be outraged and angry about climate change and companies destroying our world and economies. That

NFTs are an obvious scam and I would never buy or sell one. I’ve been in meetings where I’ve articulated this to higher ups who want to pursue them. They’re a bad idea and no one likes them.

I also think it’s weird how ANGRY people get about them.

It’s like we’ve reached this pop cultural point in the last few years

Like I said, I suspect she’ll not always look like this, but also it’s clearly a creative decision. I’m sure they know they could have just made her blue and holographic. Why they didn’t is anyone’s guess. Seeing as how Cortona looked different in every single game - when they could have easily made her look the same

I bet she’s digital looking at least some of the time.

I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree on that, because it’s really clearly CGI to me (and a lot of online sentiment I’ve seen so far), especially when compared to the real Jen Taylor (who is also primarily a voice actor, so it makes sense she’d voice a mo-capped version of herself). This is like a plastic copy with

I didn’t find her face that expressive and in motion it read VERY CG to me. Try watching it in the highest resolution on full screen... She looks like a game cutscene IMO.

Even her hair doesn’t read as “live action” It’s possible she’s just heavily filtered and I’m misreading this, but check out her expression below

It’s the grading, it’s pretty saturated, which is unusual for “gritty” sci-fi.

I kinda like it, but it does make it feel lower budget.

This looks way better than I expected. Yes, it’s a little clean / oversaturated / lower budget at parts and there are some odd changes from the games but the action looks pretty slick and it feels bigger / more epic than I expected it to.

I’m almost certain that is a CG model, not live action.

They just made it look like the actress more. I also bet the first time we see her “materialize” she’ll be blue / coded as an homage to the original, and then she’ll shift into this new look.  Would have preferred her as blue throughout but it’s not a deal

Doesn’t it make sense that Aloy would rappel the same way she did in the first game? Do you suddenly change the way you do things every year for no reason?

Updated walk and run animations are likely due to more complex traversal geometry and mechanics, but jumping off a ledge is basically the same no matter what

I think my only issue with the animation is that the lines are too clean. The whole thing needs another layer of dirt, grain and scratches on it. Especially when it comes to character outlines.

This entire thing seems completely fake. Like either he spent 3.5mil knowing it was a scam for the views he’d get later (plus the apparent refund) or he’s misrepresenting the amount of money he spent (if he spent any). Paul actually MADE money from this “scam” when you consider all the ad revenue his “I’m so sad”

I can think of few things that affect my life less than what some stranger identifies as. Truly I couldn’t give less of a shit and the idea of being someone who cares about something like that is MORTIFYING.

You could 100% see that coming from the moment they used “but” in their original post.

Nothing good ever comes after a “but” when discussing bigotry.

“Gay people deserve respect, BUT...”

Not sure the reasoning as to why “gay” and “trans” are blocked really holds water. You say it’s to protect people from those who would use those words as slurs, but homophobes rarely use “gay” and “trans” (the recognized and preferred terms for those identities) when they attack LGBTQ people. They use slurs or

Nowhere in the article did it claim anyone talked about that, though, so I’m not sure why you’re making an unrelated argument.

Queer people should absolutely be allowed to look for other queer people to play with. Saying “gay” or “trans” shouldn’t result in an instant ban for violating “family-friendly” content. That

It takes the barest minimum of human decency to allow a queer person to live their life unharassed. It costs nothing to simply leave them alone. To not say something cruel or nasty and instead mind your own business.

Somehow, that’s still too much to ask for so many, not just in the gaming community, but on the planet

As someone who spends most of his day reading - for work, the news, educational / research materials - I find this obsession with judging others based on their relationship with books (i.e. how often they read, what books they own / display) to be really insufferable.
