I think British government looks down on the whole Europe and wishes they were empire they once were. I haven't met any Brit who would think like that, but even the whole 'mainland Europe' thing (I once even read "Europe and UK") gives you the feeling UK (specifically, England) still think we're all its colonies.

This whole debate surprised me because I always thougth kids of both sexes are naked / just in bottoms at the beach. But also nudist camps are quite popular in my part of Europe, so I'm always surprised how different Americans' perspective is on this.
