I'm pretty much the opposite of you on Lee/Pope. Lee draws Batman (and Superman) as these big bricks of muscle with a costume painted on. Pope's Batman is actually wearing clothes.

I just heard an interview with Liefeld a couple weeks ago where he says he really dislikes what's become of Deadpool with all the wackyness. So Liefeld actually hates the one thing that people like about Deadpool. Makes sense.
