That's exactly what I thought about Jenny McCarthy being on The View!!!!

"I will be doing everything I can to provoke conversation, make you think..."

Seriously? It was funny. But I don't get the objection to this or the idea that only the bridge can wear white.

TOTALLY AGREE!

Fair enough. I give you all that. But...

They're all unaware.

Ronald Reagan didn't know what the lyrics of "Born in the USA" meant. Hillary Clinton (who was in her 60s at the time) obviously didn't know what "American Girl" was really about yet she used it at campaign rallies.

Because back before feminism, there was only one way to raise a family: housewife + husband works. But after the women's right movement, everything started changing. There are multiple ways to raise a family today. Work at work, work from home, work PT, surrogate to carry kid so you don't have to, etc.

Betty Friedan (I'm surprised Tracie didn't cite this) basically says the same thing in the Feminine Mystique. She sums it up by saying, yeah it's stuff that HAS to be done but it's not a job or a career.

We had a guy in our office only take 2 days off from work when his kid was born. He said he couldn't "do that" to the office (being gone on paternity leave or any leave). We guessed he just didn't want to be home changing diapers and dealing with a screaming kid.

I know there was a Tumblr for this but...holy crap does that sound like something Mitt Romney would say. It really does.

I wonder what will happen to that country when it runs out of oil. Will everyone else just go back to not caring because there are no natural resources? Will we finally see the egregious human rights abuses, especially against women?

But if NASA had included women back then, we probably would have won the space race. Janet Guthrie had a decent shot but alas...no.

I just read an article over at Slate about how some woman tracked EVERYTHING her baby did (even before she was born) on spreadsheets. And she still does.

Oh I knew a guy like that. He was FT while his wife quite her job to have kiddies. He asked me about temp work when the kiddies were in pre-school. She wanted to go PT temping, but they couldn't figure out why she couldn't get any work.

I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate the term "working mother" even more than I hate "full-time dad/mom."

I can't imagine they'd care. They mass produce that stuff. Giving it to the One Only Important Fashion Editor-in-Chief ever is probably standard procedure. I doubt they'd ever stop because Anna Wintour. She could dump $1000 worth of foundation down the drain in front of them, and they'd probably just give her

Yeah I can see your point. It's not nuclear submarines; it's fashion. The level of hysteria, panic, and paranoia is just completely overkill for something that will be out of season by next year and laughable in ten.

Now playing

Not disagreeing with you, but I though this gave a nice explanation.

Well I did use it correctly, but just because you said I didn't doesn't mean I did.
