I thought Walker’s arc was believable if not pleasant. Once he lost the title of Captain America he seemed happier. I think on some level he realized it wasn’t for him and he couldn’t live up to it. That said, he WAS a little too chummy with Bucky. But that is the mission.

The semi-plausible explanation I read from someone else for this was:

Same. It was the easy twist. And it was clear from the perspective of the semi-omnipotent narrator that maybe it wasn’t even SUPPOSED to be hidden. (The whole “We have a problem” moment and her calling Bartoc on the phone) But that takes even the illusion of fun out of it.
