I was being sarcastic. AC is hardly stagnant. Very few franchises deviate as far from their established theme as AC did with Black Flag. Also, AC3 did not have open-world naval gameplay, only linear naval missions. The second game featuring the same gameplay as AC4 which was widely applauded by gamers and critics

Right, because open-world naval gameplay is nothing new. The game industry has just been doing that one to death.
