“Hi, TSA? My daughter is partially deaf and blind in one eye, and she’s recovering from a brain stem tumor. If you could avoid beating her up and cracking her skull on the ground, that would be great. Thanks!"

And yet long, pointy, metal knitting needles have NEVER been a problem for me (although it clearly scares the crap out of my fellow travelers when I pull them out and start knitting). I would really like someone to demonstrate for me how nail clippers are more dangerous than 10-inch knitting needles.

Seriously, it’s a different rule in every airport/country. In the US I get yelled at for taking my liquids out, in Europe for not talking them out, and last time I went through Heathrow in London, they also had me bag my SOLIDS because cosmetics. Don’t yell at me! I can’t guess your rule of the day.

Says it all

Yeah, when I was flying out of Houston last spring, some TSA lady yelled at me and my mom for taking our liquids out because it’s been the rule “for a while” to leave them in. Well, Spring Break came at the end of grad school visitation for me, and I’d spent the previous 4 weekends flying from either Austin or Houston

Yeah, I didn’t want to make that the header because it’s really graphic, but it’s so important that people know how violent this was.

This. This is what they did to her poor head.

My cousin is a commercial pilot.

TSA throws hella shade. My personal favorite, as one man towards the beginning condescendingly tells the passengers, “We’ve been doing this for 15 years; no surprises here; take out your liquids!” and another barks, “Don’t take anything off or out, simply walk through, this is a new protocol.” And as you try to figure

I was temporarily disabled from a shoulder surgery and had to fly all over for job interviews. Every time I asked for help, they refused (except in Wisconsin). They also always looked at me skeptically when I would tell them that I couldn’t lift my arm and reluctantly let me through the metal detector instead of the

After 17 years of watching her poor daughter’s delicate head treated with kidd gloves through surgery, scans and chemo she had to watch TSA smash it into the ground?

What was mom supposed to ask if she called ahead? Because it is not like she would actually talk to these particular agents... and hell, she could have practiced with her daughter, but that does not mean her daughter would have remembered what to do.

Frankly, £100000 sounds a positively modest amount for the trauma in this case. This is horrific, and someone needs to lose their job.

The statement released by the TSA was incredibly fucking condescending and dismissive of their horrible actions.

“Attention deaf blind paralyzed and otherwise disabled passengers: call before you get here and remember to follow directions, or you deserve the beatings we give you.” - TSA

They caused a head injury to a deaf, partially blind teenager with a brainstem tumor. GOOD JOB, ASSHOLES.

Damn. TSA’s response letter was cold as hell. That is some shade right there.

“Passengers can call ahead of time to learn more about the screening process for their particular needs or medical situation.”

Sari Koshetz of TSA released a statement alluding to the incident: “Passengers can call ahead of time to learn more about the screening process for their particular needs or medical situation.”

Jesus Christ, that is awful.
