Rock it, sister! I give you my blessing. *waves Muslim fashion wand*
Rock it, sister! I give you my blessing. *waves Muslim fashion wand*
I'd culturally appopriate all of this if someone told me it was okay.
As a Muslim woman who has never worn hijab and never will I don’t really understand this. Isn’t covering up supposed to prove your modesty and keep you from attracting attention? How does a crystal embellished tent do that? Just one of the many ways in which religious people pretend to follow tradition while doing…
It’s a good market. Soooo many Muslim women are die hard haute couture junkies, and when they go out in public all they can show off is like, their massive oversized Prada sunglasses.
Ignored? Apparently nobody here has ever been to a mall in Dubai. There is a *huge* high-end designer market for Muslim women outside the West.
It’s so weird to me that people are surprised by this. As a Muslim woman I constantly see incredibly fashionable Muslimas and I’m like “damn... I really should get out of my pajamas more often and up my game.” I’m a lazy Muslima when it comes to fashion but when I do go out in actual clothes most people don’t even…
...the $266 billion market of Muslim women, one that has traditionally been ignored by both haute couture and box retail.
I go to the yearly garage sale at a nearby mosque and scoop up soooo many fancy hijabs for $1-2. The fabrics and laces and so lovely and there’s enough material for a child’s dress or a tunic blouse.
It’s entirely possible he cannot see his actions constitute rape. Or abuse.
He really probably believes that he did no wrong. In his mind, they both made mistakes, they both hurt each other.
Sooo she bruised herself up? Used photoshop?
“It is unfortunate that today it’s becoming more and more the norm for an accusation to be taken as fact and the sentence carried out immediately by the anonymous public.”
The severity of her accusations are false and extremely harmful. I’m not sure she realizes the irreparable harm of her actions.
As far as denials go that’s some pretty weak sauce. I just think that if I were accused of raping someone and I hadn’t raped anyone, my response would be less “Think of how this is affecting my public image” and more getting on rooftops and screaming to anyone who will listen “FUCK NO, I DID NOT RAPE ANYONE!” You…
“Innocent until proven guilty” is the standard in a court of law, not in the court of public opinion.
My career and life do not deserve to be taken away without some basic level of due process
“...psychological break between ‘carrying around a gun and occasionally firing it at people’ and ‘I am killing someone.’”
Whenever I check in with the gun-toting nuts on my Facebook feed, their posts are all centered around the idea that gun owners are extremely responsible and competent individuals. After all, they know the technical difference between a rifle and and assault rifle, so only their opinions are valid, right? They know how…
Indeed. That article pissed me off because a large part of it was devoted to “exposing” that one of the girls featured in the film who claimed she was done with porn was actually still an active performer. The author went to great lengths to do some digging to finally unearth this “gotcha” moment that felt incredibly…
