I just walked out of the room. There was total silence. It was a pretty awkward thanksgiving anyway because we don’t talk to that side of the family very often. This was like six years ago and I haven’t seen them since then even though they only live two hours away. They’re like every southern redneck stereotype, the

My incredibly racist aunt is no longer invited to thanksgiving because after being told that my brother-in-law has a half brother who is black responded with (and you have to imagine this in the most redneck accent imaginable) “that’s like being told that somebody died and you just don’t know what to say.”

Yeah, I found that part worse than her generalization of what criminals look like. It was so gross and condescending on a much more personal level, like she’s reminiscing about the good old times when black people knew their place.

She would have to show that she was treated differently because she’s white. It’s pretty easy for the employer to say that they would have fired someone of any race for saying those things. I agree with OP that context matters and it’s definitely worse coming from a white person’s mouth, but even if that weren’t the

Do you eat vegetables?

Wheatberries are very similar to farro, and, at least where I live, much less expensive. I’m addicted!

The closest live nation venue is over 4 hours away from me. So I will literally never use these tickets because it would be more expensive to get a “free” ticket and travel than to find an event closer to home.

Only south florida. If you live in north or northwest florida that’s a 8-12 hour drive.

It’s so ridiculous. If diet could treat diseases, we wouldn’t need drugs. Like, we would have figured that shit out by now.

You make a really good point about the aggressiveness of treatment. I don’t complain a lot, so when I got diagnosed people were really surprised. And people don’t understand why I’m taking these crazy drugs when I don’t seem (to them) to be that bad off.

I do the injections. The problem with some people is that mtx triggers the nausea center of the brain, so injections don’t actually help. It has improved somewhat with time, thank god. I used to have to take zofran a few hours before the injections and then every 6 hours for 3 days. Now I only take it the day of the

I have RA, and the invisible illness problem is so annoying. My family and friends don’t even get it, so I guess I can hardly expect strangers to.

I don’t know how many times I’ve been told “I have that in my knee.”

My mom (who is a NURSE) tried to talk to me into seeing this “doctor” who treats RA with diet only. Right mom, why don’t I just pray it away while I’m at it.

I have RA and it is no joke. Methotrexate makes me vomit, even though I take it at a way lower dose than prescribed for cancer patients. I don’t do infusions (yet) but have to do injection with a similar drug. The drugs simultaneously help slow the progression of the disease while also making you feel terrible.

It’s not even an off-label use, it’s marketed towards use for people with RA. It’s one of the many biologics you go through while trying to find the right cocktail of drugs.

I have it too! I’ve failed cimzia and humira and am waiting for approval to start actemra infusions, and of course am on mtx. I never refer to any of it as chemo, but I can understand why someone would. People don’t understand how serious these drugs are. You immune system is whack....I got a scratch a couple of

I take it for RA, and even though RA patients take it in way lower doses than cancer patients, it still makes me vomit. So I have to take zofran for the nausea, and then more drugs from the constipation from the zofran...it’s never ending. And the fatigue. It really makes you feel horrible.

I’m a big Bernie supporter and phonbanked for him and everything. But it does go against what he claimed to stand for. The people have spoken, now let us unite behind our actual candidate. He’s not serving anything but his own ego by staying in.

I was relating an anecdote. I’m not sure why you’re arguing with me about something my parents said. I already said it was an emotional reaction. It’s not like they’re lobbying Congress to ban all handguns, so chill.
