Reminds me of an incident a few years back in Wisconsin. A nurses union was fighting for better benefits and pensions. The CEO of the healthcare organization told the nurses "they should just marry better" if they wanted better pensions. This happened in the 21st century!!!

The profession does regulate itself (please define "well") through representation on each state board of nursing and other regulatory bodies, through ensuring the security and integrity of the licensure exams, through evidence-based research, through peer reviewed publications.
