Correct. The names of the cars had nothing to do with why the cars don’t sell. It’s that Ford products aren’t that much different and the Lincoln brand does lacks cachet.

I had a MkII Scirocco as a company car. Seriously. It was very pleasant for me and the Mrs., but we’re of average height and weigh what we were supposed to weigh. So it was great for us. But anybody taller than me? Or fatter than me? Forget it. After parting with it, I did not miss it.
Switching names at Lincoln won’t matter. They switched to alphanumerics because the weren’t selling with just names.
As for Tesla, I wish the media fanboys would just blow Musk and get over the bromance.
The whole problem with handing out awards every year is that once the precedence is set, the awarding organization has to do it every year, and especially in the years when no one is really worthy of receiving an award in that category.
I don’t think he’s quite as bad as Food Babe. She’s flat out wrong all the time. This guy is partially right some of the time.
No. They’re not all bad. If you’ve had enough experience owning cars that spend a lot of time in the shop, or if you’ve spent some time fixing your own car, then you can usually see what he’s wrong about, and what he’s right about. But then after you’ve watched his rant, you realize you haven’t really learned anything…
Mrs. WhalingLeague and I checked out the Fiat at the NYIAS. She's a size 7 and found the inside of the Fiat to be cramped. I agree with her. It's cramped inside. I think there are better ways to spend the same cash or credit.
#2. Chihuahua engine plant. Probably making those 1.1 liter engines for the Fiesta.
#3. in Canada; it’s actually more expensive to build cars there than it is to make them in the USA.
Uh. Wait a sec. I thought the narrative was that Canada’s single-payer health care system made their production and labor cheaper than…
Am I the only motorcycle enthusiast on the planet who does not see the appeal in Confederate motorcycles?
See, capitalism does work. Take that Michael Moore!
I really want to party with those guys!
I thought it was a modernized version of the Focke-Wulf FW190. Sort of like the New Beetle is the version of the Beetle.
So if you can’t call it “Government Motors,” you can still call it “They Have A Fund for 80 People They Killed Motors.” Not quite as catchy.
Tavarish’s assessment of Newark is generous. The airport in Managua, Nicaragua has better food choices, and is not located adjacent to a prison.
I think it will see pretty well in Atlanta, Dallas, Nashvlle, Houston, etc. The perception up North is that everyone down South still lives in tarpaper shacks. This truck could do pretty well down there as well.
#5: Huh? Is this an indictment of New York City's public education system? "Okay class, which is a bigger number? 8 percent of 7000 or 6.99 percent of 7000?"
It seems that the government "watch dogs" will be in a prime opportunity to receive bird dog fees from loan companies.
It's real simple. Once the Honda Accord came out, then the rest of Japan realized they could make cars that were the size and shape that suited many Americans. Almost simultaneously, BMW, Volvo and Saab became fashionable, and the personal luxury cars from the Big Three fell out of popularity with the upwardly mobile.

The i3 is ridiculous as it is. So why not double-down and get even more ridiculous?
I hope that in the future, the blogosphere and journalists no longer develop crushes on people like Musk. Until then, they should just blow him and get it over with.
