Oil GAINS viscosity as it gets colder. Colder = thicker and thicker = more viscous.

"Loses Viscosity" is a bit misleading, no? Viscosity increases with a decrease in temperature so it's actually gaining viscosity. Maybe it loses it's ability flow well enough to allow the engine to crank, but it's certainly not losing viscosity.
