I only tow 2-3x a year. My Tacoma is not capable of towing the weights I usually tow, so I simply borrow or rent a truck. I can rent an F-250 from Home Depot for literally $20/hour. So it might cost me $100 2-3x a year in truck rental fees. But the upshot is I literally save thousands per year on 1) Fuel, 2)

The disdain comes from the fact that modern trucks really don’t do anything particularly well.

Something about that patina doesn’t sit right with me. Looks a little too perfect, a little too even. That perfect “primer line” between the paint and the rust is really suspect.

Motorcycles have a small cross-sectional area, but have absolutely atrocious drag. It really wouldn’t surprise me if it takes close to 15-20Hp to throw a big Harley down the highway. That’s also sort of reflected in the fact that the original motor apparently only pulls low 30s for MPG.

Most people won’t hear motorcycles coming either. I don’t usually hear obnoxious Harleys on the highway until after they pass me...

So here’s the deal: Electric motors are typically operated in one of two modes, or sometimes a hybrid of the two.

It’s funny, that bike EV curve you just posted is pretty much identical to an ICE power curve. You would get significantly better acceleration with a gearbox on that bike keeping the electric motor between 4000 and 7000 RPM.

I really don’t think there’s any basis at all to “loud pipes save lives”.

They're not for sale. I just meant show n tell.

I live right in the area (about 30 minutes from this Jeep). I can tell you that this area isn’t kind to XJs and ZJs (I’ve worked on enough of them to know).

Does anyone know why Toyota is utterly incapable of designing an engine by themselves now? It just seems like they’re constantly “collaborating” with other manufacturers with engines.

It has to do with context and intent. I greet my good buddy by calling him a dipshit, but I don’t go around greeting random people by calling them dipshits.

I feel like I must be the only one who doesn’t really enjoy this channel, or their videos. I’ve hacked up my fair share of cars to do dumb stuff too, but something about this channel and the things they do just seems off to me.

So, it looks like a Discovery from the Mid-2000s, the roof doesn’t come off, it has poor visibility with FJ-Cruiser-Like blindspots and annoying to use infotainment/hvac/powertrain controls.

I was going to guess Saab 93. 3-cylinder 2 stroke, radiator facing the same way too! Darn.

I love King Crimson and I love you for posting it.

My ‘02 Tacoma has 10" brake rotors. First gen Tundra’s had 12.5" brake rotors. My ‘89 LandCruiser only has 11.8" rotors up front. If the brakes faded on your F-150 towing a trailer, it’s because your trailer brakes or controller were not adjusted properly.

There is simply no need for 15" rotors on an Escalade - even

...and a 2002 F-350 Diesel rated to tow ~18,000 pounds has a 13" front rotor, My Tacoma only has 10" rotors. I really don’t get your point?

Brake rotor size is not indicative of overall braking performance. An Escalade, or an F-350, or my Tacoma are not expected to do laps around a circuit at maximum speed for hours at

Pretty much every single late 80s to late 90s Ford F series truck had RABS. The Japanese vehicles used load sensing rear proportioning valves to do something similar.

Good. It’s absolutely insane how long Tesla has gotten away with being irresponsible with autopilot. Even the name it self is irresponsible. Because of the name and all the ridiculous “self-driving” marketing Tesla pushed very hard at the beginning (including videos from Musk showing a car driving itself down the
