Looks like Leap Motion is giving Kinect the finger! Ten fingers in fact.

I hear ya though isn't that what the mod community is like? Serious question. I'm not a PC gamer so I don't know.

Heh. With good reason.

Ha! Well I didn't think Shepard was going to use his finger. What I mean is that shooting a hologram would be as effective as trying to get into a wrestling match with a ray of sunshine.

Huh. Reminds me of the ending of Journey.

Isn't the star child a hologram? How do you shoot a hologram?

Speaking of which I'm really looking forward to the end of the "graphics arms race", if you will. Once everybody's game looks universally amazing developers will be able to shift their attention to other pressing issues like improving A.I. and story.

Damn it! I was hoping to find out if anybody ever called Dr. Chakwas, Dr. Jawas behind her back. I know I did.

Compared to most video game endings? No. It wasn't exactly what I'd call a good ending but there are plenty worse out there.

Yeah but people complained about how the last couple of Fallout games ended too.

It seems like some players thought they were going to have complete control or near complete control over the whole story. If people want that much narrative control then they should write their own fan fiction.

LA Noire gave me that same feeling. Like you said it has it's flaws but I appreciated what they were going for. I'd love it if some other developer would take LA Noire's potential and really polish it up, make a game that Noire should've been.

I was kinda hoping they would explain what happened to the camera man who kept zooming in on Miranda's ass every time Shepard spoke with her in private. Did he live? And if so who's ass is he (let's face it, it's a he), zooming in on now?

The most popular games out there are always going to take the lions share of the criticism, I agree with you there. But shooters have been around for quite a while and it's only been recently that criticism of them has started to grow.

I'm ready for something new too. Hell I was ready before the 360 and PS3 launched.

I'm sure that some of that is the reason but people have been suffering from shooter fatigue even prior to E3. If anything the volume of complaints about shooters grew louder after E3 because people were already experiencing a feeling of ennui towards the genre.

The thing about shooters is they're largely based on this idea that players have to fight off large waves of enemies over and over again, not unlike Space Invaders. Maybe instead of a new game mechanic somebody will introduce a non-wave centric approach to challenging players.

I mean this without sarcasm when I ask is it even possible for development costs of AAA games to go down?

It seems to me that many game critics and game fans alike are experiencing an unprecedented level of shooter/violence fatigue. Practically every podcast I listen to talks about it. Game sites like this one talk about it. Magazines talk about it. It's everywhere.
