What about non white Canadians? Or is this based on the assumption that Canadians are all white? (To be fair, most non white Canadians I know are avoiding the US for the next few years).

My dad is West Indian and has this exact dichotomy, he despises everything British and colonial and yet takes such pride in his British education and places value on things like the English language and literature.
