You lost me at the notion that Birth by Sleep was fantastic. Look, feel free to have your opinion, but that game is actually objectively terrible. The camera is ridiculously bad, the voice acting/animation is similarly atrocious, the combat is slow and unintuitive, the bosses are broken and absurd with cheap mechanics…

Look  up any footage of 2.8, it’s showing off the engine and base mechanics for 3. It’s looking like a mashup of the best from the three good games that you mentioned, while trimming the fat so you aren’t too unstoppable. It’s bringing back the simple combo/command system from 1 and 2, being a main game itself.

I thought DDD had some of the most fun, best gameplay in the series. Story, though...man I think they jumped the shark in DDD. Fortunately, I don’t know that the story in DDD really matters at all to the overarching plot!
