My friends and I talk about that all the time (how many years we spent worrying we were pregnant). I would say about half of the women in my life have had IVF at least once, some of them even after secondary infertility.

That's completely unacceptable. The number of miscarriages that can and do occur and it was that hard to find medical treatment?! What do they want women to do at that stage? Get an infection and sepsis?

I am so impressed that you found a doctor willing to insert one in a teenager. I have had so many female friends that have had doctors refuse to give them one because they aren’t done having children, or aren’t married, or ARE married but haven’t had kids. And we live in CA!

I would have hoped that your medical school education on the numerous foetal complications that are incompatible with life that aren't detected until late into a pregnancy would have swayed you to revise your stance against late term abortions as well.
