I didn't realize he had been ill. It seems only recently that he was pitching new ideas and truly was positive that he was going to land a new deal.
I didn't grownup with it (didn't see my first episode until 1980 when I was 16), and have a deep appreciation, never found it particularly campy (there are exceptions), and understood that it was an attempt to show some big ideas with very little money.
