I'm on my phone, but if I had the Orson Welles clapping gif, it'd be right here. Insightful and scathing. Love it.

Yeah, I don't think the asshole in this scenario is the cat...

I came here to say the same thing about breaking up the last installment. HP and subsequently Twilight had good reasons to split the last book into two movies: both of their last books were the longest in the series. IIRC the last HP book was 800-some pages and Breaking Dawn was twice the size of the preceding books.

I swore I wasn't going to jump in here, but you've got me thinking. I'm interested in your answer to the following scenario:

Every time I hear a complaint like this, I think of the many times I've watched professional men's soccer games. I swear that part of their strategy is to feign injury so that they get a penalty called. The faking can be so outrageous! I compare that to watching women's soccer as well as playing soccer myself.

You are so on the mark about what happens two months after the celebration. My wife and I had a very long engagement (2.5 years bc of my grad school) and two weddings (bc we're gay and fabulous and needed a legal ceremony out of state and a local one for the folks). When the dust settled, we looked at each other like

Same here! Secular humanist bisexual with a wife. I think getting married (and traveling from PA to CT to do so) meant more to us than some (not saying all) opposite-sex couples bc we had to jump through so many legal hoops to do so. Drafted wills and powers of attorney. It was a huge commitment. I know my marriage

All of those sound like great ideas. They are exactly the type of activities that keep me interested. Good luck!

Agreed!

I found that the key to getting me to exercise is mental as well as physical stimulation. If I am learning a skill while getting a workout, I am much more motivated to stay active through practicing my skill. Thus, I started martial arts in 2007. I get a great workout, but it doesn't feel like a workout bc I'm

That's why I got mine pierced. Ain't no mistaking it now!

I'm actually surprised when I see a teen smoking nowadays. I think to myself, "That's still considered cool in high school?" I would have thought with all the Truth campaigns and real-world evidence of smoking-related disease, that kids would think it was uncool. I mean, wouldn't they think the "olds" were lame for

I feel you. Family connections are the anchor for me. Although I live outside of Philly, one of the two liberal pockets of Pennsylvania, most of the state's political views trend conservative. Marriage equality is but a faint dream for me right now. I hate the climate of extreme humid, hot summers and cold, snowy

Yes! This. I could see hiding their faces and making it impossible to tell gender. Conservatives railing against the indecency, only to discover they are posters of disgusting man-boobs. Towanda!

Agreed. But I wouldn't call this a free market in the traditional sense. A free market would have more transparency. Insurance companies drive down prices for themselves, while raising prices on individuals. We are being priced out of the market bc we don't hold the leverage that a company would.

Oh god. You procreated?!

I don't think he's considering a single-payer system, in which the government sets prices because it is the only consumer. I think he's talking about the lack of transparency in health care pricing, which drives up costs. Have you ever happened to ask the receptionist or nursing staff at a doctor's office what the

Catholics are weird like that. When I announced to my 96 year old grandfather that I was marrying a woman (I am also a woman), his first question was, "Is she Catholic?"

P.S. love your handle. Do you run a law blog by any chance? ;-)

This, so so much. My dad is a gay rights supporter (bc of my wife and me) but also and oddly a staunch republican. Every time we get into a political discussion, he says, "Your man hasn't done anything for marriage equality, other than say he's for it!" Suddenly, my dad is a single-issue voter and his problem with
