Doesn’t matter if it was abused. Modern cars are designed to deal with idiots, especially if it’s a naturally-aspirated fleet model. What new engines cannot suffer is owners who don’t change the fluids or do the routine maintenance.

Charitable contributions are not categorized as miscellaneous itemized deductions, thankfully. CC are subject to a 50% ceiling, generally, not a 2% floor.
§1015 is the general rule and theory. It basically means that gifts are non-taxable transactions for the recipient. In practice, the law works differently. If you try to gift deductions to someone else, you’ll probably have your basis adjusted to $0, which makes the donation a taxable transaction.

The question applies to all Japanese brands. Europeans don’t buy Japanese cars, though, Japanese cars have thrived in the brutal proving ground of North America?
Shouldn’t come as too much of a shock. Subaru CUVs have about as much ground clearance as a Panther sedan. Slammed sedans don’t work in the US, and that’s part of the reason people are abandoning the sedan segment.
