I'm really excited for it, but one subtle element feels weak in that demo: the power of the gunfire and its effect on enemies (or the player). There was no sense of bullets damaging enemies or that basic satisfaction of firing on a target and seeing the rounds land.

Pretty sure that was signifying player-to-player chatter, but yeah, cheese-ball.

Well done Avalanche, though it was a no-brainer to begin with...

If this is what gets most critics all riled up, I need put less stock into what I read on gaming sites :/

I'm optimistic for this even though the trailers barely hint at anything intelligent, but knowing how great a story teller Del Toro can be (Devil's Backbone anyone?), I hope he surprises us all.

Absolutely, positively spot on.

So no Aussie accents and unrelated to the Mad Max films... how is this Mad Max then?

Thank you Sony, for resisting the greedy-urge Microsoft fell prey to. Without that stance this might not have happened and we'd all be stuck in DRM hell. This backpedal doesn't change a thing IMO, they played their hand and it failed, but the intent is plain for all of us to see now.

This gen will be miles from the "Wii dominates sales, while everything does well" era of gaming. Nintendo did something really cool with the Wii design and captured the masses' attention, this time around there's almost none of that general-public excitement. Some of my favorite all time games are Nintendo titles, but

Wow, there are quite a few on that 2013 list that I'll want to play. But one game I don't see on the list that is at the top of my list is Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeros, where is it?

I'm sorry, I was distracted by the stunning redhead the entire time, it's a medical condition I suffer from... what were we talking about?

I'm no cheerleader for any corporation, but I've got to call-out the short-sighted naysayers that are pointing to the games that were revealed last night as legitimate arguement against all the good Sony preserved for the next-gen. The new consoles are months from release, the games will come, we're talking about an

That's pretty much perfect, or at least exactly what I'd hope for (but not expect) from a next-gen console; A smokin' hot piece of hardware, plenty of storage, respectable price and it doesn't come with anything I don't want/need (camera, Move etc).

Ka-fucking-Boom! Did not see that coming, thought for sure Sony would follow suit and go the DRM route. Impressive and respect-worthy decision.

When both consoles are fully revealed to have nearly or completely identical DRM policies... well, I'm not sure what decision I'll make. It's always irked me that console manufacturers find it ok to sell a consumer a physical object, but ultimately deny the consumer complete ownership over it. Had this gen somehow

This all but guarantees Sony will follow suit on the used games topic. There's now way the publishers are going split their used game-policy entirely between different consoles. Sad deal, I guess the publishers will get exactly what they want afterall.

I keep forgetting this exists, and get excited all over again every time I'm reminded this game is a real thing.

If Sony does truly diverge from MS on this and the used game conundrum, Xbox One will be in serious trouble with a lot of gamers. But if they both go down the same path, we'll hear a ton of bitching early on, and then everyone will jump on board once they both hit retail.

That's great they added the traditional ES perspective and everything, but the dev also stated why that's a pretty bad idea in an MMO; you won't know what the hell is going while a mob destroys you. Seems it would be a big disadvantage to play it in first-person mode.

Until internet bandwidth allows fast-distribution of digital-only content, and disc-based games all but disappear, you can't do this Sony. Putting a physical product in a paying-consumer's hands, but telling them they don't own it is a perfect recipe for "f*** you". Temper your greed and just accept this is the way
