I know everyone makes the “when you picture a scalper you always picture a particular guy” joke but goddamn these guys look like they’re the slightly imperfect clones of some scalping supervillain.

Go look at it on Google street view and get back to us with your apology. Road is wide as hell with clear, unobstructed views AND it has a designated bike lane that’s almost as wide as some actual rural roads I’ve been on. The driver of the vehicle must have been blind drunk at 10 am and/or attempting to run her over.

Apparently the engine+trans+full tank of gas is ~700lbs.

And don’t forget the added weight of 23-30 gallons of gas in that big ol’ truck when it’s full. That could be another ~200 pounds.

She was in the bike lane. What a garbage take.

That sucks hard. Sorry to hear that.

My knees are pretty well wrecked from a head on cycling crash when a careless driver hit me at relatively low speeds. I was turning out of a parking lot at around 5 mph, and an idiot kid with no insurance cut the corner too tightly at about 15 mph. My knee was laid open to the bone, but all told I was pretty lucky.

DUI-related incidents are unacceptable, period. Fight me.

While I agree with much of this, many people bicycling on public roads are not doing it recreationally. They’re using the bike as transportation for shopping, commuting, etc.

Better take, make it harder to get a license.

But you’re ok with the drunks enjoying the roads though?

Now playing

So my biggest beef with these conversations are drivers who have never once been on a bicycle on a busy road. Like it or not, bicycles are allowed on roads, and most people have NO IDEA what it is like to be cruising along with not much more than your clothes and a helmet to protect you from 3 ton behemoths cruising

and hopefully not over 50k”

Wonder no more:

thats not gonna last much longer.  as the percentage of evs grows more and more theyll figure something out.  i think texas is already passing a 400 a year thing on them.  something around those lines.  and im alright with that.  gas tax should be paying for road fees and they dont pay gas taxes.  but the gas tax def

They ARE the answer. I know it may be hard for you to understand but as product development improves and technology increases the battery weight will decrease.  Difficult concepts to grasp but give it a shot.

Neither are motorists hitting cyclists and creating the atmosphere that bikes don’t belong on their roads, which is also a big thing in Colorado with road rage incidents between the two happening frequently.

Large 4 lane highway at that point with a very wide shoulder for bikes, it also is along a greenbelt with bike paths so it gets quite a bit of road bike traffic. It isn’t one of the Colorado bike lanes that isn’t well designed, this is out in a suburb.

I get where you’re coming from, but you miss a lot of important factors. One being that disrupting the status quo is a part of protesting. If you’re not being disruptive, you’re easy to ignore. Blocking roadways is a nonviolent means of being disruptive. The fact that you think it borders on terrorism means you either

Fuck.
Off.

Making it illegal to peacefully protest DOES infringe on your right to protest.
