No Mark VII ever had those things, thank god.
1961-1969 Lincoln Continental. I prefer the early years of this generation myself.
Any higher performance version of a normal, everyday car. Mazdaspeed3, SVT Focus, GTI (maybe, if you like pain and torture), Civic Si, WRX, etc. Some are better than others, but they're all based on a platform that is easy to find parts for, so repairs are cheap. Plus they're practical, so you don't have to explain to…
Our '07 E63 has this very issue. It's been slowly getting worse and is at the point that we can't fill the car up without fuel leaking out of the top of the tank. The only proper fix is buying a new (defective) pump unit. I'm curious how this turns out, as I think MB should have done a recall years ago.
That was a reply to TimTim, BTW.
This is actually backwards. Diesels are completely different than gas engines in this regard. The more air you shove in (boost) the cooler the EGTs are, the more fuel there is the higher the EGTs go.
Sounds like you looked at the wrong cars. If you go looking for cheap slow cars you'll find cheap slow cars, doesn't matter whether they're Asian, European, or American.
Mercedes 190E 2.3 with a 5-speed. It was no Cosworth, but for $200 I wasn't gonna complain! The shift linkage was so sticky it would barely shift between gears and the Bosch injection system was choking the engine to the point that it barely made it up to 60mph on the drive home. Some Liquid wrench fixed the shifter…

Ever been to any off road racing event? Apparently not. Look at any rally racing videos and watch how people JUMP OFF THE ROAD to avoid the cars.
I was standing next to the Galloping Ghost team when the crash happened. It's been hours, but I'm still shaken up and can't get all my thoughts straight. This was a tragedy, but there's inherent risk at any race, not just the Reno Air Races. There is speculation that the race should be stopped, which is ridiculous.…
Horrible comparison, of course a loaded V6 gets worse mileage than an unloaded one. Where's the loaded V8 to compare against?
Actually the MN12/FN10 had the 8.8" gears. They were plenty strong enough for hard launching, more so than the compromised IRS put in the SN95 chassis.
@TBIburnoutmachine: Thanks! '03 Cobra 17"x9" with 275s on all corners.
@noahalee: My '03 SVT with the Euro Appearance Package is an amazing car, I was absolutely hooked on the first drive. Unfortunately it was abused by the PO and has had some issues, nothing too major thankfully. I see it being a daily driver for many years to come.
To me "best" is based on a lot more than just reliability, it's a big part of what I want in a car, but it's also a trait you look for in your appliances. My cars aren't appliances.
My '87 Lincoln Mark VII LSC. No, not the most reliable, but that was mostly my doing. However, it did teach me almost everything I know about working on cars and what to do to improve them. Once you've learned to diagnose the systems on a Mark VII (air suspension, ABS, climate control, fuel injection, etc.) you can…
'88 or '89 Lincoln Mark VII LSC or the Car & Concepts GTC. I've had a few LSCs and just love 'em.
My mom's E63. Or maybe my LSC when it had the turbocharger, that only lasted 15 minutes before it lost oil pressure though...
