Swedish has only been a Catholic hospital for a few years (2012 maybe??). They were bought by Providence after their attempt at massive expansion failed miserably (Hi empty hospital in Issaquah). Still sucks though because there are very few other places in this town to deliver a baby.

Yup. And with all the mergers, it may not be clear that a hospital is now under an umbrella organization that is pulls these kinds of stunts. I’m lucky to live in an area with two major hospital organizations, and I’d have to be unconscious to go through the doors of the Catholic one no matter what.

Um no. The staff at the clinic are “healthcare providers” under HIPAA even if they don’t provide actual healthcare.

So it’s sort of the opposite of why most churches have to close.
