I agree. You want to point to a vehicle that still looks great today, it’s these Chevy Advanced Design trucks—especially with the chrome grille. If I owned a truck, one of these ADs would be at the top of my list.

I agree it’s a great deal for somebody who can deal with it. It wouldn’t scare me at all - but at the same time, if I was going to get one of these, I would be far more likely to spend $20K+ on a low-mileage creampuff example - and most likely a 300SEL. But I don’t have need or space for a “going out to dinner” car

As I said in my first post on this car - the price of entry of this thing is merely the downpayment. And the most expensive car in the world is a cheap Mercedes-Benz.

The price has actually dropped to $3600. I’m not usually a conspiracy theorist, but this really seem suspiciously cheap to me. I assume the price of diesel is insane in California? It’s not cheap here in God’s Waiting Room, FL.

A car from a time when automakers thought they could sell more trucks by making them look like sedans. Today, you want to sell a car you need to make it look like a truck.

That might be a $6,000 car for someone who’s into malaise vintage. ND for everyone else.

Yellow can look good on the right pickup; here is mine:

Subject to a mechanical inspection, tentative NP. It is fun, it is offbeat, it appears to have had the major stuff done to keep it as a runner, and even with a ruined seat (not the hardest thing in the world to replace, or just use the cover) it is probably worth that little bit more. If it all checks out, then I

Objects within the vehicle pose a serious threat as well. If you’ve got a toolbox or other gear in the back of your SUV, strap that shit down, people. No reason to get yourself (or your passengers) bead blasted on the off chance you slide into a snowbank one day.

I’m shocked that anyone under the age of, I don’t know, 60 years old? doesn’t automatically put on their seatbelt.

That used to scare the hell out of me when I drove a vet SUV with a backseat full of unrestrained equipment. My asshole boss refused to put up a guard so I didn't get pulverized by a flying 30 lb x-ray machine.

Most of them were pretty much destroyed in the “ricer” F&F days.

Even just being thrown around inside the car will kill you.

Ouch. But spot on. Funny how the one dude to survive that was the one dude with a seatbelt on...

The Diamond Star trio first generation cars were everywhere back in the day.  You would think a few more would have survived but they just didn't.  Anyway, these are rare, and this one is in very nice shape, but I can't quite see getting to the asking price without the Turbo.  No Dice.

Maybe that’ll happen when Murphy himself shows any sign of aging. I swear, sometimes I think he doesn’t look a day older than he did in 1985. It’s starting to get a little creepy.

“In fact, the seller offers no history of the car whatsoever.”

after 40 years

I’m not sure that’s necessarily safer. If you put too much weight on the jack and it fails suddenly, you put a shock load on the jack stand. Or worse, the less-stable wheeled jack allows the car to shift on the stands and side load them.
