You have won the internet today.
I have to admit, for me personally, comments about my weight when I was at my thinnest really started to get to me. I liked my body, but it seemed like just another thing for people to pick on me about. In my case, though, I spent a lifetime being bullied - so it kinda wrecked me, I think, to discover that for…
I kinda like them too...should I be embarrassed? I should probably be embarrassed.
Ooo...good point.
Truthfully, man clavicle can be pretty hot, but since he would need to take his shirt off for it to be seen, it's hopefully not a workplace issue.
I think I have a new canon to snorf down...
LOVE this film! I think it was criminally underrated when it came out, but time has been kind to it, and people are finally seeing how good the film is. I had no idea it was based off a Leonard book, but that totally makes sense.
Dolly Parton is the absolute best, and I don't think I understand people who disagree.
Tracy McMillan is an obnoxious concern-troll, and I would like her to stop writing crap like this. I'm glad she's happy, but I don't want the life she's trying to foist on everyone.
Yeah, occasionally things get weird when people can essentially hold your income hostage. :/ Most people aren't like that, but enough are that it's definitely an issue.
Agreed...being in the industry for a long time can show you some really weird sides to the human psyche. For example, I have to act more stupid than I actually am to get the best tips (like not idiotic, but I can't seem too smart)...but only when I'm taking tables. When I'm behind the bar, it's okay if I'm smart.…
I think he eliminated even those tips partly because the laws can get foggy when you're doing service-charge stuff...but I think it would be best if we had a more European system where there's the 18% service charge, but you can give your server an additional dollar or two if you really like their service. It allows…
I agree with this as well...women can be power-tripping assholes, too. I have, though, had an unpleasant number of guys who were obviously getting a kick out of making a pretty lady "dance", so to speak. Including the lovely subset of guys who hold out their cash, then keep pulling it away from you to try to "tease"…
THIS. Yeah, the article may be over-generalizing, but as a 20-year service-industry veteran, I can back up a lot of his observations, and definitely second yours. There is certainly a large subset of guys who get off in some way by controlling their interaction with their server. Power-trippers are an ugly constant in…
Ooo! Or replace all the images with super-positive Shibe meme pics!
I'm a fan of Penguin Sport Wash, myself...it works great and really seemed to help my workout clothes last longer! :) You can buy it here.
She's a really excellent science-fiction author who often explores feminist themes in her writing (she also wrote The Gate to Women's Country). Grass is honestly very dense and kinda hard for me to summarize (especially with time fogging the details), but the Wikipedia summary is a start. I highly recommend it.
Oh, and I think I actually did read Always Coming Home a loooong time ago, but I need to read it again, as I have only the fuzziest memories of it. I have the same problem with Grass by Sheri S. Tepper. I know I read it about 17 years ago, but the details have faded and I need to re-read it.
WAIT. HOW MANY RAIMIS WOULD WE INVOLVE, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, CAN WE ALSO ADD LUCY LAWLESS?!
