An Immersive Sim is a genre of game that the original Deus Ex is strongly considered to have defined. Think Ultima Underworld, Thief and more recently Dishonored, Prey and Deathloop. They aren’t simulations in the sense of SimCity or things like that.

Let me just write that down, Scott.

It’s really not that bad if you can make it past that damn underwater level with the bombs.

It’s definitely Ash. Bruce Campbell tweeted out the trailer today saying something coy like “Maybe I should check this game out?”

It does seem kind of odd. I find it to have better offerings than say Hulu, which I almost never use. No Activity and Disco alone are worth the $6 a month imo.

It’s actually a pretty solid service. Disco is getting quite good. No Activity is a great comedy show. Twilight Zone is looking solid, plus The Stand coming up and a Jean Luc Picard show next year. I pay more for less over at Hulu.

You would never know it based on the absurd amount of podcasts they put out.

I am really loving that show so far.

I have a similar story with the boss if Arc the Lad 2. That is an SRPG, so you are moving your characters around a grid. The boss is basically a giant baby sitting on the top of the screen. He never moves, however he can only be hit with melee from one particular square. In addition to that, he has massive attacks

I urge you, and anyone else who is interested, to check out The Ballad of Black Tom by Victor LaValle. It’s a reimagining of Red Hook from the point of view of a black con artist. A very, very good short story that takes Lovecraft’s racism and misanthropy and uses it to talk about privilege and classism.

***SPOILERSish***

I don’t see FFIX or Wind Waker on their YouTube channel. Do they only upload certain runs?

In that case, I would strongly recommend The Ballad of Black Tom by Victor LaValle to you. It’s a retelling of The Horror at Red Hook from the point of view of a poor black con artist. It uses Lovecraft’s racism and themes as a device to show what it’s like to feel truly insignificant.

Love love love me some Paranoia Agent.

I don’t agree with a ton of what you said here, and many of your criticisms are what I liked about that movie. But very well written and you seem to know your shit. I’ll be following this from now on.

There were only two timelines until the very final scene. I think the op’s point is relatively sound.

I kind of agree, but the extended fighting aliens sequence at the end really took me out of the movie. It should have ended with her seeing the spaceship off in the distance. He was right all along, the end.

She is missing her arm. I’m thinking that she wants him to help Farouk for selfish reasons. Like she is wounded and David dies defeating him once and for all, and she would just rather keep David and damn the rest of the world.

Are you me?

Alright. All that enthusiasm has sold me. I’m especially intrigued by that middle line. Thanks for the recommendation!
