Any time I see a 2D platformer/side-scroller, or generic RPG that looks like Final Fantasy 1 made in RPG Maker, I immediately say “next”, regardless of the reviews. I’m sure many of them are great games, but my time is limited so I want the most bang for my buck.
If the base wasn't decent it wouldn't be worth the bother. The mods give it longevity but it's hardly as if people didn't enjoy the mod-less console versions.
