I swear i also once read something about the foam causing the pump to burn out - that it’s a liquid cooled pump, and if you ran foam through it long enough it would overheat. either way, not a good idea - the most immediate damage is to your kitchen which has dirty foam exploded all over it now.

What precision work are you talking about? I sharpen my woodworking tools to razor sharp, and can do it by hand in a few minutes from totally dull. It’s a learned skill, but a relatively easy one to master. Certainly easier than cooking.
