I still maintain that these systems can't do anything not already done by current purely mechanical systems. Perhaps, there are some benefits to over-all engine FMEP, but I challenge you to show a decision matrix where cost, complexity, weight, durability, manufacturing, service and warranty are considered where one

where do all those electrons come from? The alternator! Now you must take mechanical energy from the crank, thru an accessory drive belt, spin the alternator, and then take those electrons, convert them back to mechanical energy at the valve train.

ALl these things are already done with existing mechanical systems...

yeah, i know what they are, Fiat Multi-air is the only thing that comes close to working as intended with hydraulic actuators, but still uses cam lobes to pressurize the oil used to lift a valve..multi-air separates valve actuation from crank angle a bit more than other systems. never-the-less, Electro-Mechanical

Electrical Camshafts?? NO! Nope.. Definitely not. Why take a simple mechanical system already proven to be capable of timing and lift variability and complicate it with electromagnetically doodads?

Racecar engineering December 2008 issue

racecar engineering had a great article a few years back about why prototype sports cars took flight so easily. They actually took an LMP1 car to a wind tunnel and started testing. They found 2 interesting phenomenon associated with the air flow around the car. The first was when air flow was not directly inline

Montana is a terrible place. Never ever go there

The Supercharged and magentic ride ZL-1 and new LS7 powered Z/28 beg to differ... way faster around any track!

Why is a McLaren MP4-12C labeled a BMW??? WTF?

The Triumph is a 2.294L three cylinder, not an 8.2L.

2.3Liter displacement, not 8, Morons....

That Datsun is rubbish. Did you look at the rest of the pictures? I wouldn't feel safe driving that hack job. The drive shaft alone looks like it will self destruct at anything over 40mph. Too many joints!!

This is a trick question. Any car with out a manual would be better with a manual transmission. It may not be necessarily faster around a race track with a manual, but I know deep in my heart it would be better to drive.

With out a doubt, here is your winner. It is a neutrally perfect and predictable rotating race car...

BST has been doing Carbon Fibre wheels for quite some time now... At least that is true for the 2wheel world....

The Left-right-left around China beach (I think the turn is called "madness") at Mid Ohio

Very old torsion beam rear end porsches had toe out bump steer, and thus a nasty habit to swap ends when the rear was unloaded. New ones do not do this at all, and are quite nice to drive. They don't instantly oversteer like the internet would like them to.
