Coming out at 33 in this era should not in any way compromise a person’s welcome in the LGBTQRST. It does mean however that if they want to be seen as a leader or representative of the community, they need to prove that they’ve overcome the forces that oppressed them first.

Historically, one gay man calling another “Mary” wasn’t putting him down for being gay, but rather putting him down for not owning it. To call someone “Mary” was to say “I see the gayness that you think you’re hiding”

If you look at Tdi sales, the diesels VW sold were disproportionally a) manual, and b) wagons. Since GM wasn’t interested in selling either, a significant number of diesel fans returned the disinterest.

I agree with a lot of what you say, but Diesel is not hard to find. I’ve driven Diesels on and off since 1981, and finding fuel has been a issue for me.... once.  Sometimes you have to wait for a gas car to unblock the only Diesel pump in the court though.
